I have a soft spot for animals and I hate to think about killing cattle for meat. Once in a while a cow escapes a slaughter house and runs for its life. Most of the time it ends sadly. The animal is shot and killed or it is captured and brought back to the slaughter house. This morning I saw on TV where six escaped! They aren’t stupid and ran because they were just as scared as we would be. At the end of the story, they said many people were concerned what happened to them. These stories always make people feel empathy for any animal that runs because he is scared and just wants to live though many don’t get the chance to make a break for it. But they five did and people want these five at least to be spared. So there is good news: The owner said if he gets enough money for what they are worth and what it will cost to put them up in an animal sanctuary, he will agree to it. He is asking $2,000 per cow. I don’t think he is making any money on this deal, but is doing it not only for the sake of these freedom seeking critters, but for the feelings of people who hate to think about them being brought back to the hammer and the knife. I think a lot of people will contribute a little and with so many people in this country caring about animals and these in particular, they will get enough to save all six. I will send five dollars myself. Here is the web site:
